Annual Mid-States Transport Safety Awards Ceremony
Thanks to the Pandemic this year's annual Safety Meeting was held on Sept., 25, but despite the delay this year's event was well attended and everyone was well fed. This year we were pleased to recognize 7 drivers. Unfortunately only 4 were present as the other drivers were on the road, but we cornered the other three and got individual photos below.
We had a great turnout this year for our annual safety meeting. I want to thank all the drivers for what they do day in and day out. I also want to thank our customers, vendors, safety reps and the SD Highway Patrol for coming out and showing their support at this wonderful event.

Mid-States Drivers Participate in Truck Convoy to Benefit Special Olympics South Dakota
Once again Mid States in Sioux Falls was well represented in the Annual Truck Convoy benefiting Special Olympics South Dakota. Over 200 trucks participated in the event on Sept. 23, motoring around the Sioux Falls city limits. The Rapid City convoy event, held the following weekend, together with Sioux Falls raised over $81,000.
What Is the Truck Convoy?
The Truck Convoy is a celebration of the trucking industry and its support for Special Olympics. What started as a local event in Florida in 2001, the event has evolved into an international movement with Convoys in over 24 states and 4 provinces annually.
The South Dakota Convoy began in Sioux Falls and Rapid City in 2003 with an event being held in both locations for the first 2 years. In 2005, Sioux Falls continued on and has been going strong ever since. In 2014, the Rapid City Convoy was restarted and is now growing as strong as ever. The South Dakota Convoys, since 2003, have had a total of 1,971 trucks involved and have raised over $729,000 for the South Dakota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
How Does The Truck Convoy Raise Money?
Participants pay a $100 fee before or at registration. During the event, valuable items are auctioned and the prestigious title of Lead Truck is bestowed. The Convoy solicits corporate sponsors and engages community partners to contribute financially to this great fundraising event for a great cause!
Where Does The Money Go?
100% of the funds go directly to support and benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run; Special Olympics South Dakota's largest grassroots fundraising campaign. Special Olympics South Dakota has over 2,500 Athletes statewide and is growing larger every day.
